Due to the de-centralized nature of the music industry these days, there is a realistic way for any independent artist to have a career. Since they’re financing their own projects themselves, they aren’t dictated how they ought to do things like in most record label deals. Whatever they want to create, they can, with the only limitation being their imagination.

But I felt there was a void in the music industry for the independent artist. There’s not a ton of structure or resources for them to engage with, that genuinely has their best interests in mind. People just want to sell them “shortcuts” for a quick buck. There’s also this stigma around indie music, where it’s an inferior quality compared to the major labels.

​

I believed in the independent music scene so strongly that I wanted to put my money where my mouth was, and created my own company to serve indie artists exclusively. Thus, on September 23rd 2023, The Vibe Check, LLC was born.

Making music is at its best when it’s treated as an interactive and collaborative process, versus a purely transactional one. We’re all just friends hanging out in the studio together, making dope music. As it should be. That is the experience I provide for any artist I work with.

I also believe that AI has no place in the music creation process whatsoever. Some people feel the need to sanitize their humanity, by trying to sound as technically perfect as possible. In other words, they want to sound like a robot.

​

There’s nothing particularly interesting about that. Art at its core is about human expression and human connection. Instead of trying to sanitize our humanity, we should embrace it. Flaws and all.

​
